UWA Aerospace Outreach Program

On Wednesday, 18 August, Year 3 was lucky enough to enjoy an incursion presented by the UWA Aerospace Outreach Program. Our students learned about streamlined rocket designs and forces. The best part was when our students were able to design and create their own rockets, which were then launched on the oval! A big thank you to Claire Ramsay, Thomas’ mother, who helped us organise this event, and to Mrs Walters, our Science specialist teacher.

What a great way to celebrate Science Week!

Year 3 Teachers

“It was so much fun building the rockets. I learned that you can make rockets out of bottles!” – Elizabeth (Room 6)

“I enjoyed making our rocket and watching it fly across the oval. Now I’m wondering how big a rocket could be?” – Kynan (Room 6)

“It was great! It was cool to see how much power the rocket had and how far it flew.” – Cole (Room 12)

“I was very surprised by the rockets not breaking and it was very fast!” – Manreen (Room 11)

“The experience I had was amazing and we had to do it together. When we tested it, it was so, so fun!” – Te Ahu

Interschool Cross Country

Congratulations to all of our Interschool Cross Country competitors who competed at Harold Rossiter Reserve on the 5 August. Our students displayed fantastic determination to complete the gruelling course. A special mention to Zakari who won the Year 4 girls race and her brother Jaxson who came fourth in the Year 6 boys race. Overall the school finish fifth, but the way our students conducted themselves and the effort that they put in is what we are all so proud of. Well done everyone and thank you to the parents who came to cheer on our athletes.

Basketball

Our Year 5/6 Boys Basketball team competed in the Slam Series event at Bendat Stadium this week. It was a fantastic day with our team dominating many of the matches they played. The boys lost just one match all day, with that team going on to win the tournament. Congratulations to Max, Jaxson, Bill, Josh, Will, Gabriel, Choying, Axel for your outstanding effort all day and the way you conducted yourself. You did East Victoria Park Primary proud!
