Dear parents and carers
Congratulations to Room 1 for a wonderful assembly this morning. Their words and songs about friendships and kindness reflect our CORE values of care, organised, respect and engage. Thank you, Miss Van Brakel and Miss Layne, for all the effort that went into today. It was so pleasing to see so many parents, friends and grandparents in attendance.
Congratulations to today’s merit certificate winners.

Lost Property
Our lost property is out of control. It is incredibly helpful if hats and jumpers are labelled as it makes it easer to return them to their rightful owners. Can you please check from time to time that your child has not mistakenly taken someone else’s hat or jumper home?
It would be great for parents to reinforce at home with children that for jumpers:
“If it is not on your back it goes in your bag”.
And for hats:
“If it is not on your head it goes in your bag.”
When our students are looking after their belongings and ensuring they are zipped into their bags they are demonstrating our Core valued of being organised.
Recycle Right Station: Volunteers Required
At East Victoria Park Primary School, we strive to be sustainably responsible by reducing our ecological footprint. Ensuring we recycle properly helps us to achieve this goal. Providing a Recycle Right Station allows our school community to donate materials and objects that cannot go inside our general recycling (yellow top) bins. Our Recycle Right Station is located just outside our front Administration building. The items are then recycled at specialised facilities and organisations.
At the Recycle Right Station, you can recycle…
- Plastic bread tags – from Coles/Woolworths/Bakers Delight etc.
- Mobile phones – no cases or cables
- Fluorescent globes – small fluorescent globes, rings & tubes (no LED)
- Batteries – AA, AAA, C, D and 9-volt batteries (no car or large batteries)
- Ink cartridges – empty ink & toner cartridges
- CDs & DVDs – no cases
- Writing instruments – pens, textas, whiteboard makers, sharpies, white-out pens & tape.
Volunteers
Parents and caregivers, we need your help! We want to create a dedicated team of volunteers who can assist with dropping off collected recyclable materials to our recycling partners. These drop-offs will occur once a term and would involve you collecting the materials from the Recycle Right Station and dropping them off to the relevant location. You will be informed via email about collection procedures and times. If you can help, please email EastVictoriaPark.PS@education.wa.edu.au With Recycle Right Station in the subject line.
Kind regards

Please read on for the messages shared by our student councillors at this morning’s assembly:

Good morning parents, carers, teachers, and staff. Next Tuesday, we have the Interschool Throws and Jumps event, followed by the Interschool Carnival on Thursday. For students competing, please stand so we can give you a well-deserved round of applause. We wish you all the best of luck! Have a great day, everyone.

Your Move Active Travel Festival Thursday 10 October
Hello everyone! I’d like to quickly talk about the Your Move program. It’s an active lifestyle initiative that provides our school with resources and support to make it easier for students to walk, wheel, or ride to school. This free program from the Department of Transport helps families reduce car trips each week by walking, riding, scooting, or using public transport. Your Move aims to improve the health and wellbeing of children and adults in our Western Australian community, while also reducing traffic congestion and environmental impact.
On Thursday, 10 October, Your Move will host an Active Travel Festival at our school. Students will participate in exciting activities like a Constable Care presentation, biking, scooting, and skateboarding. We’ll even have a Transperth bus on-site for students to practise tagging on and off. In conjunction with the festival, we will be having our ride to school day too. We encourage you to ride or scoot to school – there will be prizes for the best decorated bikes/scooters.

Student Representative Council
Good morning, everyone! I’d like to talk about the Student Representative Council (SRC). After this assembly, the four student councillors will visit every class from Years 3 to 6 to collect the nomination forms. The SRC is a group that meets to discuss the rights of students in our school and works to make positive changes for our future.
Our first initiative is to change the names of our factions from English historical figures to more appropriate names that reflect our community’s culture. The reason we have two representatives from each Year 4 and 5 class is to ensure they grow into future leaders of the school. Thank you for your time.

Rainbow Colour Run – Friday 20 September
Jess
Hi everyone! I know you’re all excited about the Colour Run! Don’t forget to send the fundraising link to your family members so your class can have a chance to win a pizza party! Yes, that’s right—the top three classes that raise the most funds will enjoy pizza parties, and everyone who fundraises will be entered into a draw for a $300 gift card. I hope you all have fun getting covered in colour at the Colour Run!
