Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to the end of Week 10 – it has been an incredibly busy and productive term, with students and staff ready for a well-earned break.
A wonderful week of music
What a wonderful week of music at East Victoria Park Primary School! On Wednesday night, our Senior Choir performed at the WA Massed Choir Festival, joining students from other public primary schools to sing as part of a massed choir. It was a special experience for our students, and they represented our school beautifully. Congratulations to every choir member, and thank you to Mrs Motherwell for the care, skill and dedication she brings to preparing them.
This morning’s music assembly gave us another reason to celebrate. Our band, Junior Choir and Senior Choir all performed, and their confidence and enthusiasm were a joy to see. The range of musical opportunities and talent on show is truly remarkable for a school of our size. We are privileged to have such a strong music program led by Mrs Motherwell.
A special thank you to our Instrumental Music School Services teachers for the work they do with our young musicians. Thank you also to our Music Captains, Shannon and Luna, who did an awesome job hosting this morning’s assembly. We are so proud of all our performers!

Thank you for supporting our morning routine
Thank you to all our families for adapting to our new morning routine. We appreciate the care you have taken to help create a calm environment before school. We are noticing a difference: students are entering classrooms more calmly, organising themselves and arriving ready for their important morning work in literacy and numeracy.
A reminder that students who arrive independently before 8.30am must go to the library. Students who arrive with their parents before classrooms open at 8.30am are asked to wait quietly with them. Parents are welcome to go to the library with their children from 8.15am to read quietly. Playing on the school grounds before school is no longer permitted.
These expectations help us maintain a calm and orderly start for everyone. Thank you for your continued support.

Help Shape the Future of East Victoria Park Primary School
Thank you to the families who participated in our 2026 School Community Survey. Your feedback provided valuable insight into what our community values about East Victoria Park Primary School and where we can continue to grow.
An important message from the survey was the value our families place on having opportunities to contribute to the direction and priorities of our school. As we begin planning for our next School Business Plan, we would like to continue that conversation, and the School Board would like to invite our whole school community to have a voice in shaping our future direction.
At the heart of our planning is a simple but important question: What do you want for your child during their time at East Victoria Park Primary School?
Please take a little time to complete the following survey:

Black Cockatoos at EVPPS
We had a very special visit recently from Dean from Carnaby’s Crusaders, who delivered an educational, informative and LOTS-of-fun session for our students!
Our students learnt all about our amazing black cockatoos, including the different species, their lifecycle and conservation status, the native and non-native plants they rely on for food, the threats they face, and how we can all help protect them.
And of course, we loved meeting Carnaby Mango and the very cheeky (and VERY noisy!) red-tailed Cada! Cada certainly kept everyone entertained when he decided to fly off from Dean and make himself comfortable up high in the undercover area. Clearly, he had his own ideas about where the session should take place!
Students also learnt about artificial hollows, water stations and some of the success stories helping our black cockatoos.
A HUGE thank you to Nuts for Cockies, who have not only supplied our school with trees to help increase the food supply for black cockatoos around the East Victoria Park area, but also helped fund Dean’s visit to our school.
We are so grateful for the work you are doing to help protect these incredible birds and for giving our students the opportunity to learn more about them.

Between the Bridges Holiday Bingo Card
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) has been sharing their learning about the Swan River during PBS lessons. Students have explored the river’s animals, plants, river system and significance to Whadjuk Noongar people. To continue this learning beyond the classroom, the SRC has created a Between the Bridges Bingo Card for the school community to enjoy together.
During the holidays, we encourage families to explore the Swan River foreshore between Boorloo Bridge and Matagarup Bridge and complete as many bingo challenges as possible. It is a fun way to spend time outdoors, learn more about our local environment and help our community appreciate and care for our river.

Uniform Concepts
The flyer provides important information regarding our Uniform Concepts store, including our appointment system for Term 4, lay-by facility, and opening hours for the remainder of this year and January. We hope the information will assist families with planning their uniform requirements for Term 4 and the start of the new school year.
