Newsletter 24 October 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank You, Room 13!

A huge thank you to Room 13 and Mr Cutler for their brilliant assembly this morning! Their performance, “The Year That Was: 2025,” had it all — humour, acting, and plenty of great information. It was wonderful to see so many budding media personalities and superstars in the making sharing highlights from the year.

Well done to all the students for their creativity, confidence, and teamwork — what a fantastic way to celebrate the year!

Class Placements for 2026

As we reach the end of Week 2, with just eight weeks remaining in the school year, planning for 2026 is well underway.

As mentioned in previous newsletters, some of our classes each year are composite classes, where two year levels are combined in one classroom. Because our funding is based on total student numbers rather than year levels, composite classes are an important and necessary part of our structure.

At East Victoria Park Primary School, we form all classes—composite or single-year—with great care to ensure a balanced mix of abilities, friendships, and learning needs. There is no academic advantage or disadvantage to being in a composite class; students continue to learn the curriculum for their specific year level, and teachers work collaboratively across year levels to plan and deliver programs.

Where possible, we aim to avoid placing students in a composite class two years in a row. If your child is placed in a composite class for 2026, please view it as a positive opportunity for growth and learning. We appreciate your support and encouragement in helping your child embrace their new class with confidence.

Providing Input for 2026 Placements

If you have any information you would like us to consider when making class placements for 2026, please email me at kim.knowles@education.wa.edu.au  by Friday, 7 November 2025, using the subject line “Class Placement 2026.”

We will take into account academic, social, and emotional factors when considering placement requests. While every request will be carefully reviewed, please note that it may not always be possible to accommodate all preferences.

If your child will not be returning to East Victoria Park Primary School in 2026, please complete the form at the link below:

Not Returning in 2026 – Fill in form

Please see the Class Placement Policy for further details.

Ensuring Safe Parking for the Well-being of Our Children

The safety of our students is our top priority, and responsible driver behaviour plays a crucial role in creating a secure environment for everyone. We understand that mornings and afternoons can be hectic, but with your cooperation, we can make the school drop-off and pick-up process smooth and safe.

Here are a few reminders:

1.     Follow Designated Drop-off and Pick-up Zones: Please use the designated area for drop-off and pick-up. This zone is placed in a way to facilitate a smooth flow of traffic.

2.     Do not use the staff car park: This is for Education Support Centre students only and is not to be used at any time for pick up or drop off.

3.     Avoid Double Parking: Double parking can create unnecessary congestion and pose risks to pedestrians and other drivers. Please find a legal parking space, even if it requires a short walk.

4.     Model Safe Behaviour: As parents and carers, your actions speak volumes to our children. By demonstrating safe parking practices, you set an excellent example for our young learners.

By working together to observe these guidelines, we can create a safer and more organised environment for everyone. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in fostering a culture of safety within our school community.

Please, please follow our guidelines and keep everyone safe.

Have a great weekend

Massed Choir Festival

In Week 10 of Term 3, just before the September holidays, our talented Senior Choir proudly represented EVPPS at the Massed Choir Festival. It was an incredible experience, with 13 schools and around 550 students coming together to perform at the Perth High Performance Centre in Mount Claremont. The Senior Choir worked hard to memorise 11 songs and actions to perform. The concert was a wonderful celebration of music, teamwork, and joy — a memorable highlight to finish the term!
