Newsletter 23 September 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

We are at the end of one of the busiest terms I can ever recall. We have certainly tried to make up for lost COVID time!

Thank you to Mrs Motherwell and her amazing music students for an outstanding assembly today. It is hard to believe that the band and choir have only been rehearsing together since the beginning of Term 2.

Congratulations to our assembly award winners for the fortnight:

Massed Choir Festival

The Massed Choir Festival took place on Wednesday evening at the Perth Concert Hall for our students and Mrs Motherwell. What an honour it is to be principal of this school. Our students were exemplary in their presentation, their behaviour and their performances. A special mention goes out to Hana who was one of only 5 students with a solo performance – she was outstanding and we are all very proud of you, Hana. Thank you Mrs Motherwell for all the work in getting our students ready for their performance.

Staffing Update

We have a number of changes taking place in Term 4. Mrs Kate Kay is on Long Service Leave and will be replaced in Kindy 2B by Miss Meg Johns. Miss Hannah Cox has won a 6 month fixed term Deputy Principal position here at EVPPS. Her replacement in Room 10 is Miss Rachel Yee. Rachel is a permanent staff member who has been on Leave Without Pay for 3 terms this year. Congratulations Hannah on your appointment to Deputy Principal, welcome back Rachel and a warm welcome to EVPPS to Meg.

We have a School Development Day on Monday 14 November, which is in Week 6 of Term 4, please put this in your calendar.

I’d like to thank students, staff and families for a great term. It has been busy but it has been wonderful to see the return of incursions, excursions and sports carnivals – these are the events that create such wonderful memories for our children.

I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. Term 4 commences for both staff and students on Monday, 10 October 2022.

Kind regards

Kim Knowles

Flourish Happenings

FLOURISH is a whole school approach to ensure every child meets their educational potential.

Our latest Flourish events have included our excursion to the Scribbler’s Festival at Subiaco, performances at the Massed Choir Festival and continued achievement at the Inter School Athletics Carnival.

Due to the National Public Holiday this week our assessment process has been delayed to week one term 4.

Parents of students who are displaying academic potential and aptitude above grade level will be sent a parent survey to complete as well as a consent form for their child to participate in the pilot project.

We will begin with our year 3 students and then progress through the other years.

A teacher screening is also conducted to support our data collection.

Using a Case Management approach, we will inform each parent individually of their child’s results in the later weeks of term 4.

Thank you
