Planning for 2025

As we approach the end of Week 6, with just four weeks left in the school year, planning for 2025 is well underway. As shared in previous newsletters, we sometimes have composite classes, where two year levels share one classroom. Since our funding is based on student numbers rather than year levels, composite classes are an important part of our structure.

Our staff carefully consider placements for the following year and aim to ensure that students aren’t in composite classes two years in a row, where possible. If your child is placed in a composite class, please approach it as a positive opportunity. We understand that some families have preferences, but we appreciate your support and positivity about these arrangements.

With fluctuating enrolment numbers, we are still determining whether we will add a class next year. Changes in enrolment may require adjustments early next year or even mid-year. Please let us know if your family will not be returning in 2025 by filling out the form below:

Open Board Meeting

We invite you to attend our Open Board Meeting on Monday, November 18th, in the school library from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. All parents are welcome to join this parent-only meeting. Topics on the agenda include:

  • NAPLAN 2024
  • Focus 2025
  • EVPPS Directions for 2025
  • School Board Planning for 2025

We hope to see you there!

Your Move and Bike Education

Our Year 4 students are participating in bike education lessons as part of the Your Move program, which our school joined this semester. We’ve also secured funding for next year’s Year 4 students to take a four-week bike course in Term 1. To help these lessons run smoothly, we encourage students to bring their own bikes. There be an opportunity for Santa to bring a bike for Christmas or if there is a birthday coming up, bikes make great presents.

Riding a bike has tons of benefits for kids! It keeps them fit, builds confidence, improves coordination, and is great for mental health. Biking also teaches road safety, fosters independence, and helps them develop lifelong healthy habits. Plus, it’s eco-friendly, social, and—most importantly—fun!

Mr. Tristan Jones, our Your Move Champion Teacher, has been sharing updates through stories on the program’s site. Be sure to let him know what you think when you see him!

School Pick-Up and Drop-Off

Please use the designated pick-up/drop-off bays on BT Avenue. We’ve noticed some parents are using the staff car park, which is reserved for staff and parents of our Education Support Centre students. Your cooperation helps keep this area safe for everyone.

In the afternoon we ask that students are picked up as close to 3.00pm as possible. We completely understand that from time to time you may be running late. However, we are having an increasing number of students being picked up after 3.15pm. Students still at school after 3.15pm will be directed to wait in the office to be collected by their parent or carer.

New School Gardener Position

Our school gardener, Mr. Adrian Malkovic, has resigned, and we thank him for his work over the past year. We are currently seeking applicants for the position, which is now posted on Jobs WA, with an application deadline of November 27.
