Dear Parents and carers
Celebrating NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week is an important part of our school calendar as we come together to recognise and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is a valuable opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding, show respect, and strengthen their connection to Australia’s First Nations peoples.
This year’s NAIDOC theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy”, calls on all Australians to listen, learn, and celebrate the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. It is a reminder of the importance of voice, pride, and identity.
At this morning’s assembly, our student leaders delivered a thoughtful and engaging presentation that reflected the meaning of this year’s theme. We are incredibly proud of their leadership and the maturity with which they shared their messages.
A special thank you to Mrs Motherwell for leading our whole school in song—such a powerful and unifying moment—and to our confident soloists, Shayne and Sanvika, whose beautiful performances added something truly special to the occasion.

Faction Cross Country Carnival
After a nervous few days of constantly checking the weather forecast, we were pleased to go ahead with our Faction Cross Country Carnival as planned. We were very fortunate with the weather and managed to complete most of the races before the rain arrived.
Congratulations to all competitors—your preparation, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship made the day extra special. A big well done to our Year 1 and 2 students who took part for the first time this year. It was a great success, and we’re excited to confirm that our Cross Country Carnival will now be an annual event for Years 1 to 6.
Congratulations to our medal winners, and on behalf of the school, we wish all our Year 3 to 6 competitors the very best for the Interschool Carnival early next term.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Waker for her organisation, to the staff for their help with set-up and running the event, and most of all, to the families who came along to cheer on the students. Your support helped make the day truly special.
Congratulations to Stirling on the win and well done to Chloe and Oliver for leading your faction to victory – and thank you for your well thought speeches.

Staffing Update
We would like to inform families that Mrs Julie Brewer’s appointment as Principal at Goomalling Primary School has been extended for another term. In line with Department of Education processes, we are now required to advertise for a replacement Deputy Principal at our school.
In the meantime, we are pleased to share that Mr Tristan Jones has kindly agreed to continue in the Year 3–6 Deputy Principal role for the first three weeks of Term 3 while this process is underway.
We thank Mr Jones for his ongoing support and leadership, and we will keep you informed of any further updates as they become available.
Thank You for a Wonderful First Semester
As we come to the end of the first half of the school year, I want to take this opportunity to thank our entire school community for your support, enthusiasm, and hard work.
Our students have made excellent progress this semester and should be incredibly proud of their achievements. We have seen a strong focus on improving book work across the school—thank you for the effort and pride you are taking in your learning. Your first semester reports are a true testament to the commitment and dedication you have shown.
To our staff, thank you for your ongoing dedication to delivering high-quality teaching and learning programs. Your hard work and care make a significant difference in the lives of our students every day.
And to our families—thank you for continuing to support our focus to ‘be on time’. Having children at school on time and ready to begin learning at 8:50am sets a positive tone for the day and contributes to their success.
Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing and well-earned holiday. We look forward to another great term ahead!
School recommences on Monday 21 July 2025.
Kind regards
Kim Knowles
