Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you, Room 8 and Mr Clarke! Learning about the three levels of government in Australia has never been so much fun. Your assembly presentation was both informative and entertaining, with fabulous audience engagement throughout. The students spoke clearly and confidently – some of them are clearly born performers! It was a joy to see such enthusiasm and creativity brought to an important topic. Well done to everyone involved!

As we near the end of term I would like to thank everyone for a great start to the year. Students have settled in well to their new classes and I’m very pleased with the quality of learning I am seeing throughout the school. A big thank you goes to our staff who have made such a positive start to the year possible.

Next Friday, 11 April we are having our ANZAC assembly, commencing at 9am. We would love for you to join us.

In your planning for Term 2, please be advised that our next School Development Day is Friday 16 May. There is no school for students on this day.

Kind regards

Kim Knowles

Principal

Please read on for our student councillor messages, delivered at today’s assembly:

Lance – Good morning, everyone. It has been quite a busy yet exciting week! Yesterday, the senior classes took part in the Mission Possible Carnival, where the Year 5’s and 6’s had a less competitive, fun replacement of the Interschool Summer Carnival. We had the teams participate in Ultimate Frisbee, Slam Ball, Street Hockey, The Amazing Race and Race Ball.  It was great! Not to mention, the weather was ideal, excluding the slight drizzles. Our 5 teams were: The Green Beans, The Snipers, The Black Hawks, The Destroyers, and The Whats. I’d like to give out a huge thanks to Mrs. Walker, who prepared for months for the day, as well as the staff who were stationed at each of the activities, and all the students who took part. We hope to have another day like it soon.

Mujtuba – The long table lunch will be taking place soon today, considering that it had been postponed due to some students still in the phase of Ramadan. We hope that you have brought your own food in for the lunch in the undercover area, so that everyone can have a taste of culture! Your parents are welcome to enjoy a picnic lunch, and they will hopefully bring the hot food for the lunch later in the day.

Kavithma – For the past few days, we have been enjoying the performances of students (and a teacher) who have displayed their talents with traditional songs, singing, dancing, andplaying. We praise the courage and passion our peers have shown performing their traditions and to the community who served as our audience.

Johan– As we start nearing the end of term, it comes time to commemorate the fallen ANZAC soldiers that laid down their lives for our country. To remember all these people, we will host a ceremony to commemorate them next Friday, the last day of the term. I would also like to thank all the students for behaving so well and giving the school one of its best terms. That is all, please listen to your teachers.
