Good afternoon everyone
This morning, our students came together for a meaningful Reconciliation Assembly, reflecting on the importance of understanding, respect, and unity as we continue our journey towards reconciliation. Thank you to Room 6 and Mr Jones for hosting this important event.

C – Connection: connection brings communities together through understanding and kindness
O – Opportunity: opportunity means creating a fair future for everyone.
N – Noongar: we proudly acknowledge the Whadjuk Noongar people, the Traditional Custodians of this land.
C – Caring: caring for each other and our environment builds strong communities.
I – Inclusion: inclusion means making sure everyone feels welcome and safe.
L – Learning: learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories helps us grow together.
I – Integrity: Integrity means doing what is right, even when nobody is looking.
A – Acceptance: Acceptance means celebrating our differences and learning from one another.
T – Together: together we can create a kinder and more respectful Australia
I – Inspire: we can inspire others through kindness, understanding and respect.
O – Open-minded: Being open minded helps us listen, learn and grow
N – Next Generation: The next generation can continue building reconciliation for the future.
The next generation is in safe hands!
Following the assembly, students participated in our Barefoot on Country ceremony, standing together, barefoot on the oval, in silence for one minute to acknowledge the deep connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with Country, and to reflect on the importance of listening, learning, and walking together with respect.
Our Cultural Captains, Sameeha and Isabelle, then shared a moving poem that reminded us all of the power of kindness, understanding, and reconciliation in creating a stronger future for everyone.
At our school, reconciliation is important because it helps our students develop respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives, while fostering empathy, inclusion, and a shared sense of belonging within our community.

Please read on for the messages delivered by our Student Councillors at assembly this morning.
Fatima: Good morning, everyone. Just a little reminder that this weekend is a long weekend. There is no school this Friday, as it is a staff development day, and Monday is a public holiday. Please do not come to school on these two days, as you will be by yourself!
Just another update — as the months are getting cooler, please ensure you have clearly labelled jumpers and/or jackets in the school colours. Any unclaimed personal items may or may not be found in the lost and found box outside the office, so please have a look just in case.
The second-hand uniform shop will be open next Friday, the 5th of June, from 2:45pm until 3:00pm. You are also able to check the days the shop is open by having a look at the calendar on the school website. Thank you.

Tyler: Hello, everyone. Just a special update from our P&C, who are excited to share that after the launch of the inaugural Bike Bus on the 25th of May, they will be continuing to ride together every Monday this term.
That’s right — you heard me! The EVPPS Bike Bus will meet at 8:00am every Monday at Oat Street Train Station and ride together to school. Everyone is welcome, so grab your friends, family, bikes, and helmets, and all aboard!

Just a little reminder that the 2026 MISSION POSSIBLE Carnival is starting in Week 8. Some of our cool activities will include volleyball, basketball, The Amazing Race, crazy golf, and, for all our Harry Potter fans out there, we’ll be doing Quidditch!
All the teachers are writing reports, so make sure you’re doing your best bookwork and showing a positive attitude towards school. Thanks for listening and have a well-earned extra-long weekend!
Austin: Good morning, everyone. Tomorrow, Friday the 29th of May, from 12:30pm to 3:00pm, there will be a P&C fundraiser at the Morley Rollerdrome. There will be music, games, and prizes. There is a $17 entry fee, which includes skate and rollerblade hire. Parent supervision is needed.

Walk Safely to School Day was last Friday, and I would like to thank everyone who walked safely for their efforts in keeping our community safe. Congratulations to everyone who won a prize at the most recent raffle.

Phoebe: Last week, the student councillors, the Year 6 representatives in SRC, and the Cultural Captains went to the Kent Street Leadership Day Workshop. We learnt how to improve as leaders, what being a leader means to us and others, and how to contribute and communicate as a group.
The eight of us will be working on a project about how we can help life below the water.
Another update — school photo day is coming up next week on Tuesday and Wednesday, so make sure you’re looking your best for your pictures! The junior photos are on Tuesday, and the senior photos are on Wednesday. Band and choir photos will also be taken on Wednesday, and sibling photos will be taken throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thank you for listening to our reports!
Dr Karl – Year 6 Science Incursion
On Tuesday 19th May the year 6 students enjoyed an online question and answer session with Dr Karl. They had 50 minutes of his time in which they got to ask 15 questions. This is a completely free service that Dr Karl offers schools.
Dr Karl is an Australian science communicator and populariser, who is known as an author and a science commentator on Australian radio, television, and podcasts.
He is the Julius Sumner Miller Fellow in the Science Foundation for Physics at the School of Physics, University of Sydney.

Premier’s Reading Challenge
Well done to all those who are logging the books they have read for the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Last week 175 books were read by 83 students bringing us to a total of 1395 books read in total. There are only 15 more days left so make sure you have logged at least 12 books so you can complete the challenge.
