Dear Parents and Carers
We are now almost half way through swimming lessons. Apart from the first Monday, when it was a little chilly, we have had magnificent weather. I have received great feedback from the swimming staff and our own staff about how well our children are doing at swimming. There is a lot of lost property at school – once swimming has finished I will arrange for it to all be displayed at the front of the school, to be collected. I will put a notice on Seesaw to let you know which day that will be.
Pre-Primary Assembly
The Pre-Primary assembly is always one of the highlights of the year for me and our Pre-Primary performance this year was no exception. What a great assembly we were treated to by our very clever children from ECE1 and ECE3. They were articulate, informed and confident in their presentations. They are a credit to both their families and their school. They are going to be amazing Year 1s. Congratulations and thanks to the Pre-Primary staff for their work this year.

Mr Tony Matheson
Our substantive principal, Mr Tony Matheson has decided to leave the Department and as such will not be returning to East Victoria Park Primary School next year. The Department has informed me that they will advertise for a new principal during Term 1 next year, to commence in Term 2, 2023. The Department will advise me shortly as to who the principal will be for Term 1 next year.
On behalf of the school community I would like to thank Mr Matheson for his work with our staff students and community and wish him well in his future endeavours.
School Psychology Service
The following information is to explain the School Psychology Service provided by the school. Our school psychologist Serena Whisson works at EVPPS 1 ½ days a week (Monday morning and all day Tuesday). Serena works with staff, parents and outside agencies to provide psychological support to students in three main areas: learning, behaviour and mental health. She works at individual, group and whole school levels.
Our school psychologist is a finite school resource and referrals for individual students are made by teachers. If your child’s teacher thinks Serena’s assistance will be helpful to enable your child to achieve to potential the teacher will contact you to seek your permission. Deputy Principal, Julie Brewer, works with Serena to prioritise cases and arranges parent and teacher meetings for the cases Serena is working on.
