Welcome to our final Newsletter for the year. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all EVPPS families for their amazing resilience and positive support of the school during this very unconventional year. It has been a fantastic team effort and we appreciate it immensely.
‘BIG SING’ Festival
On Thursday 19th November, the Senior Choir participated in an excursion to the Perth Concert Hall for the ‘Big Sing’ Festival. This was a celebration of song that involved 27 schools from all over the Perth metropolitan area and was the alternative to the Massed Choir Festival, which was cancelled this year due to Covid19. The students sang their hearts out and endured our scorching Perth sun (and were rewarded with a lovely picnic lunch in the shaded gardens of Government House). The Senior Choir represented their school proudly and sang beautifully. We have our fingers crossed to be back inside the Perth Concert Hall (instead of on the paving outside) next year for the Massed Choir Festival. A big thank you to Mrs Motherwell, Mrs Brewer and Mrs Spina for supporting our students on the day.
The senior courtyard is coming along in leaps and bounds. The limestone landscaping and native plants are in and we are just waiting on the table/chair settings to arrive from Melbourne. A big thanks goes to Mrs Brewer for her ongoing work to get this area looking amazing. I’d also like to thank Mr Correa-Mendonca for the limestone edging and Mrs Ellery (and a small group of our green-thumbed students) for the native plants. We are looking forward to a fully functional, collaborative teaching space ready for 2021.
Reporting to Parents – Semester 2
Student reports will be emailed to parents in the final week of term. If you have recently changed your email address, please don’t forget to update the details with our office ASAP. Please take the time to chat to your children about their reports and remember to give them a pat on the back for all the amazing work they have done during Semester 2.
Christmas Card Design Winners
Our Yr 1 students were recently given the opportunity to design a Christmas Card for the Hon. Ben Wyatt MLA.
Mr Wyatt was extremely impressed by the Yr 1’s artwork and found it very difficult to choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Mr Wyatt attended today’s assembly to reveal the winning design and also congratulate the two runners-up. This year’s Christmas Card design winner is Patrick from RM 1. The two runners up were Amber (RM 2) and Abigail (RM 3).
Well done to all of the students chosen to attend the STARS LUNCHEON today. These students have put in a superstar effort this Semester and were chosen to attend this special reward lunch. It is great to see so many students working hard to achieve their best. Keep up the amazing work!
Hawaiian Giving Box Appeal – Final Donations
EVPPS, your generosity has been out of this world!! Thank you so much to all families who have contributed donations to the Hawaiian Giving Box Appeal this year. It’s been wonderful seeing our students practice our CORE value of care in such a meaningful way. As the saying goes…”it is through giving, that we receive.”
Our Giving Boxes will be collected this Monday 6th December so this weekend is the perfect time to dig deep and organise a final donation to help others in need. Thank you again. (Miss Matthews)
Recycle Right Station – Final Drop Offs
Thank you so much to all students and families who have recycled items at our Recycle Right Station over the course of this year. Your ongoing support has helped EVPPS show care to future generations and respect to our surrounding environment. Together, we’ve managed to:
- Save over 15kg of batteries from landfill,
- Recycle over 700 milk and water bottles through Greenbatch,
- Recycle over 3000 plastic lids,
- Recycle over 50 lightbulbs through Bunnings,
- Donate over 2000 bread tags to the Bread-tags for Wheelchairs charity, and
- Provided sight to over 30 people around the world through the Lions Club Recycle for Sight Program.
If you have anything at home that needs recycling, please drop it off at our Recycle Right Station before school ends. Thank you! (Miss Matthews)
ECE 1 & ECE 4 Assembly
Congratulations to Miss Dring, Miss Van Brakel, Mrs Kay, Mrs Cunningham, Mrs Smit and all of the students from Pre-Primary for putting on an amazing assembly this morning. The students from both Pre-Primary classes told us all about ‘Derbarl Yerrigan’ (the Swan River) and gave us an overview of all the amazing animals that can be found in that area. They then entertained us with a lovely song in Noongar language. Thanks again for a great assembly PP’s!
