Dear Parents and Carers
Today we were treated to an amazing performance by our friends from Room 13 and 14 from the Education Support Centre. They showed us how they are learning to develop their gross motor skills by performing a dance for our entertainment. They followed this with singing and signing ‘I am Australian’.
Finally, we watched a short film produced and directed by Fir Razali (one of the amazing staff at the Education Support Centre):
A Glimpse of Their World: Focus On Ability: Focus on Ability Film Festival
Yesterday I had the honour of attending the Creative Schools presentation day at the Claremont Goods Shed. Our school, and more particularly Room 8, has been involved in this innovative project throughout this semester. Mr Clarke and guest artist, Leon Ewing, presented the work our students have been doing. Their presentation was very well received by all those present.
Creative Schools use creative teaching and learning strategies to cultivate student agency, and engage students in deep learning of the Western Australian curriculum, the General Capabilities and the Five Habits of Learning: being imaginative, inquisitive, collaborative, persistent and self-disciplined.
