Dear Parents and Carers

We were treated to an informative assembly by Room 4 this morning. They taught us a lot of fun facts about the Commonwealth Games and each of the students spoke clearly and articulately when addressing the school. They should be very proud of their efforts. It was wonderful to see so many parents join us for assembly on such a beautiful morning. The sunshine was much appreciated by all of us.

Congratulations to the Week 2 and the Week 4 Merit Certificate recipients. I continue to be impressed by the hard work and dedication to their learning shown by our students, week in, week out.

Pick Up / Set Down

Thank you to those parents and carers who continue to observe the processes in the Pick Up / Set Down Area. When parents and carers follow the processes the area flows well. When using the area can you please pick up and set down as close to the front of the area as possible? I also respectfully request that our parents not use the staff carpark as a pick up or set down area. There are specific bays marked for our Education Support Centre families, as there are some children, due to safety concerns, that need to be picked up directly outside the Centre. When our parents pick up and set down in this area it means that those who need this service cannot access it. There are No Stopping signs marked on the road surface – please observe these. Thank you.

Our Staff Development Day

This is on Friday, 19 August 2022. There will be no school on that day for students. Teachers are participating in Seven Steps for Writing Professional Learning. This is a whole school approach to teaching writing which we are very much looking forward to participating in.

Uniforms

Thank you for ensuring that your children continue to wear their uniform every day. The school dress code reflects the standards expected of students and promotes a positive image of the school. Please be reminded that girls should be wearing blue or black leggings under their skort or dress. The wearing of the uniform is an important element in building a positive school culture and contributes to children developing a sense of belonging. A sense of belonging is an important aspect of positive health and wellbeing. Please ensure that all uniform items are clearly labelled with names so that they can be returned to their rightful owners when they end up in Lost Property.

Elijah

One of our Year 4 students, Elijah, performed at Crown Theatre last night in the Youth Ballet WA show, Integrate. Elijah was part of a magical night of exquisite performance in a show to raise funds for Youth Ballet WA. Elijah was part of a performance with a range of specials guests to ignite imaginations, unite ideas, and inspire creativity through dance. What an awesome opportunity – we are very proud of you Elijah – well done!

Save the Date

The annual Athletics Carnival is being held on Friday 2 September. Please put this date in your calendar – we would love as many parents as possible join us for this exciting annual event. The students have been busy preparing for an awesome day of sports, in their Physical education lessons all term.

We are therefore pleased to help our parent community by offering a crucial and engaging education session with ySafe, Australia’s leading provider of cyber safety education. This practical, strategy-rich session will cover the most important points that all families need to know about online safety, covering key information about social media and gaming, screen time recommendations and step-by-step instructions on how to set up a cyber safe home for kids of all ages.
